How Invisalign Works

To begin the process, Dr. Oyler takes photographs and impressions of your teeth, and then, using Invisalign digital software, he can show you how your teeth will look once they are properly repositioned. He sends this information to an Invisalign laboratory where a set of clear trays is custom-made for you.

Each of these sets of trays is designed to gently move one portion of your smile at a time. You’ll wear a set for at least 22 hours a day for a week or two before moving onto the next one. Throughout the course of your treatment, you’ll check in with Dr. Oyler every six weeks or so to ensure you’re making good progress.

In most cases, we don’t recommend Invisalign for children, as they may not be able or willing to wear their aligners as often as required to be effective. However, older teenagers and adults are typically able to benefit from this revolutionary treatment.

Will I need a retainer?

After you finish your series of aligners, you’ll need to wear a retainer to maintain your results. If you don’t wear it according to our recommendations, your teeth can move back into their previous positions. There are many less noticeable options to help protect your investment to enjoy a straight, beautiful smile that lasts.

How long will my treatment take?

Invisalign offers quicker results than metal braces. Although every treatment plan differs, most patients are finished with their series of aligners in 12 to 18 months. The duration varies on several factors, like the complexity of your case. Generally, patients who have severe alignment and bite issues will require more aligners than a person who only needs to make minor adjustments. As a result, you can expect your treatment to take a while longer. It’s best to follow your treatment plan accordingly to ensure there aren’t any delays reaching your goals.

What happens if I break an aligner?

Your aligners are durable; however, they aren’t indestructible. If you accidentally break or lose an aligner, contact our office right away for a replacement. We may recommend wearing one from the previous week until your replacement arrives.

How much does Invisalign cost?

There isn’t a set fee for Invisalign because the cost is determined by your specific treatment plan. On average, you can expect to pay more if your case is complex. We’ll provide you with an estimate during your initial consultation and discuss the fees associated with your plan. A member of our team will discuss your payment options, like using third-party financing with CareCredit.

Can I use my dental insurance?

Every policy is unique, but most plans offer coverage for orthodontics to help offset the amount you need to pay out-of-pocket. We will work on your behalf with your insurance company to file the necessary claim forms, so you have one less thing to worry about. Our office will explain how your benefits are being used and any remaining balance. We will help you find the solutions you need to achieve a straight smile without breaking the bank.
